School Committee Meeting - May. 2nd, 2024

Meeting will be held in the cafeteria/gymnasium  Please park and enter through the doors at the back of the building.

Agenda

  1. Call to order:
  2. Public Comment/Open Meeting Rules: Clarification of the official legal rules of participation in an open meeting.
  3. Approval of Minutes: Suggested Motion: Move to approve the minutes from the Clarksburg School Committee Meeting dated April 4, 2024.
  4. School Building: Updates regarding the ongoing plan to complete a building project in June to address the ADA accessibility issue with a chairlift on the back stairwell. 
  5. Financial Statement: Suggested Motion: Move to approve the current financial statement for FY24.
  6. Business Administrators Report: Review and discuss the FY 25 school budget proposal in order to finalize the document for town meeting.  The School Committee will vote to approve the final FY25 school budget.  This budget will be reviewed and voted on by the town residents at the Clarksburg Annual Town Meeting (May 29).
  7. Principal’s Report: Principal Cote will provide an update on school related events, activities, student learning, and staffing.

    1. New Business:
      1. School Choice: Review the current classroom student population numbers and vote on whether or not to open school choice slots in any grade levels during the spring enrollment time period.
      2. Prekindergarten Program: Updates on the progress to get all families up to date with monthly payments for the current school year.  Discuss options for hours, tuition, and enrollment during the 2024-2025 school year.  The committee will vote to approve any changes impacting the 2024-2025 school year.
    2. Continuing Business:
      1. Admin Assistant/Teaching Assistant agreements: Continue the discussion to review the benefits currently provided to the staff members working in these positions.  Take a vote if necessary to update any of these benefits for the 2024-2025 school year.
      2. Non-union staff member request for a staff increase: Review and vote on the request for a salary increase by a non-union staff member during the FY25 school year.
